This was supposed to be the most relaxed short fishing trip EVER but plans changed as things went the wrong way. Every time I join my buddy Marjan on a fishing trip there is a story to tell and to remember. First of all, the forecast. It was completely wrong (we did not update, lol) so we had to deal with the strong southern wind which anchored us in Saplunara bay at the Island of Mljet for most of the time.
Next, we had issues with fuel! Yes, that thing that powers the boat so our trip was delayed at the beginning and also at the end. Long story short, we had more beer than fuel. I don’t want to go into the details but it was EPIC! On top of that, our wembasto boat heating was not working and we were unable to cuddle as we usually do, and there is no 4G in Saplunara bay so we couldn’t spend a romantic evening at boat watching fishing videos of fellow YouTubers or investing in crypto and NFTs. Let’s look at the positive side of everything. We’ve had no idea the Saplunara is infested with the most poisonous and venomous fish in the Adriatic – weeverfish.
We anchored with Minn Kota and casted small 7-10g jigs and had so much fun. The live squids that were supposed to be the irresistible live bait for the dentex in the morning ended up as our lunch. As the wind went down we set our sails and went home. On our way, we caught big beautiful scorpionfish! Guess what? Also poisonous, but very very tasty. Was it worthed? Hell Yeah!
